Dr. Sorin Tascu was born in Comanesti (Romania), in 1976. He received in 1999 the BSc in Engineering Physics, from “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi (Romania) and Master and PhD degree in Physics from Claude Bernard Lyon I University (France) in 2000 and 2003 respectively. During 2003-2004 he held a Temporary Associate Professor position at Claude Bernard Lyon I University. During 2004-2008 he was Research Scientist with LPMC laboratory which is part of Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and University of Nice (France). Starting from 2009, Dr. Tascu is Research Scientist at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi. Currently, he is the Head of Research Center on Advanced Materials and Technologies – RAMTECH which he founded in 2010 at the same institution.
His research interests are in nonlinear optics, integrated optics, fabrication and characterization of nonlinear optical devices. Dr. Tascu has a large expertise in clean-room fabrication technics and materials processing for integrated nonlinear optics and guided wave optics applications. More generally, his research focuses on fabrication and characterization of materials in view of functional applications.
