Institut de Physique et Chimie des Matériaux, Strasbourg, France
Dr. Silviu Colis is associate professor at the Ecole Europeenne de Chimie Polymeres et Matériaux (University of Strasbourg) since 2002 and carries out his research activity at the Institut de Physique et Chimie des Matériaux (IPCMS). He is also head of the Materials & Nanoscience Master of the University of Strasbourg (France). He holds a diploma degree in Physics from the “Babes-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca and a PhD in experimental physics from the “Louis Pasteur” University of Strasbourg. He was also a Marie Curie post-doc fellow with Siemens AG Erlangen (Germany).
His research is focused on magnetic materials (thin films and multilayers) with potential application in spin electronic devices. This includes half metallic materials, diluted magnetic semiconductors and low dimensional magnetic oxides. Most recently he focused as well on rare earth doped oxides for down conversion properties aimed to increase the efficiency in Si-based solar cells and on alternatives transparent conductive oxides as interfacial layer in hybrid organic-inorganic solar cells. He authored more than 115 publications. He was awarded with the French national award for scientific excellence between 2007 and 2015.
