Dr. Mircea Vomir is research engineer at Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) at since 2006 and carries out his research activity at the Institut de Physique et Chimie des Matériaux (IPCMS). He holds a diploma degree in Physics from the “Babes-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca and a PhD in experimental physics from the “Louis Pasteur” University of Strasbourg.
His research is focused on dynamic properties of metallic systems and in particular magnetic nanostructures with potential application in magnetic data storage devices. This includes the study of the ultrafast demagnetization of magnetic materials under femtosecond laser excitations as well as the light induced magnetization precession. Most recently he focused as well on all optical magnetization reversal in magnetic heterostructures.
