Igor Reva received his Ph.D. in Thermophysics and Molecular Physics / Biophysics, from the Institute for Low Temperature Physics & Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kharkov) in 1995. He carried out post-doctoral work, related with low-temperature matrix-isolation studies, in Max-Planck-Institute for Radiation Chemistry (Muelheim a.d. Ruhr, Germany) and in Max-Planck-Institute for Nuclear Physics (Heidelberg, Germany) in 1997-1999. In 1999 he joined, as a post-doctoral fellow, University of Coimbra, where he is currently working as a principal researcher. In 2010, Igor Reva completed his Habilitation Degree in Molecular Spectroscopy, from the University of Coimbra . His research interests are focused on photochemistry of biological and photochromic molecules, molecular switches, reactive intermediates and systems with open electronic shells. He is involved in activities of Coimbra LaserLab, a multidisciplinary laboratory established at the University of Coimbra, and a part of LaserLab Europe – a consortium of organisations in laser-based research.
