Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB) & Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Spain
Florencio Sánchez received his BS and PhD in Physics from the University of Barcelona. From 2003 he is at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB), a research institute of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). He is a tenured scientist at the Laboratory of Multifunctional Oxides and Complex Structures of ICMAB.
His research activities are focused on functional oxide thin films. He has also used laser radiation to modify the surface of materials, and more recently he has also developed methods to control the surface of perovskite single crystalline substrates, and has investigated the growth mechanisms of complex oxides. In these activities he has coauthored around 180 journal papers. His present research interest lies on the epitaxial growth and characterization of ferroelectric and ferromagnetic oxide films and heterostructures, and its integration with silicon.
