Alessandro Chiolerio got his PhD in Electron Devices on February 2009 at Politecnico di Torino, Physics Department, defending a thesis on spintronic devices. Afterwards during his Post Doc at the Materials Science and Chemical Engineering Department he studied nanocomposite materials featuring electromagnetic properties (2009-2011). Later he worked at the Center for Space Human Robotics (now Center for Sustainable Futures) of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Torino, following research activities on the Advanced Materials platform in the field of functional nanocomposites for space applications, neuromorphic devices and flexible electronics. In 2015 he was visiting researcher at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of Pasadena (NASA, Caltech) developing a project on liquid autonomous robotics. In parallel to his research activities, in 2008 he founded a spin-off company, Politronica Inkjet Printing S.r.l., of which now he is CEO and shareholder. Politronica core business is represented by the patented formulation of functional inks based on nanoparticles and nanocomposites, as well as on the printing of electron devices on a small scale. More recently he is co-founder of another start-up, Polìpo, involved in a proprietary process for the production of biodegradable polymers from renewable resources, exploring the field of circular economy. He is co-author of 70+ papers in international peer-reviewed ISI journals, 15 proceedings of international conferences, 17 book chapters, 1 book and 9 patents. He contributed with oral presentations to 31 conferences and seminars, of which 16 on invitation (3 keynote lectures among the invited). He is/was project leader for IIT of 2 european, 2 regional and 4 industrial projects and is routinely involved in technology transfer activities being the contact point between industries and research.
Activities & Membership in Societies: He is member of the experts panel for the evaluation of projects submitted under the H2020 programme to the European Commission since 2014, to the Narodowe Centrum Nauki of Warsaw since 2012, to the Agence Nationale de la Recherche of Paris since 2013, to the Quatar National Research Fund since 2014. Chair of the Advanced Materials for Printing symposium of the European Materials Research Society (2016), and of the nano / micro symposium of International Conference on Small Science (2013). Member of the Technical Program/Review Committee of the Tech Connect World Innovation Conference (Washington, DC, USA) since 2014.
